WRC Croatia Rally 2022 – automotive spectacle at home

WRC Croatia Rally 2022

WRC Croatia Rally 2022 is an exclusive motorsport event, which ranks Croatia among the top destinations of the World Cup. After the race in Monte Carlo and the competition in the Swedish city of Umeå, which ended at the end of February, Croatia will become the rally capital again in April. Last year's WRC Croatia Rally 2021 was a turning point for the Croatian Rally - our famous Croatia Rally was then included in the WRC calendar. This year, we are in the company of 12 other countries that are the hosts of this prestigious event. In just four days, more than 100 competitors, about 2,000 crew members and as many as 350,000 spectators are expected to attend. In addition to being able to watch the event live at all planned locations, a television broadcast of all races has been provided, which was broadcast in 150 countries around the world last year.

Rally Calendar 2022

The schedule of the WRC Croatia 2022 reveals the dynamic pace of special stages

The official schedule of the WRC Croatia Rally 2022 reveals densely arranged stages, which are usually run in two laps. These are stages at twelve different locations with a total length of over 300 km, of which one location falls on the shakedown in Okić, while Zagreb has the ceremonial role of opening and closing the competition or announcing the winner. Most of the stages are run in the Žumberak and Samobor hills, Gorski kotar and Zagorje, and their area extends to five counties - the City of Zagreb, Zagreb, Krapina-Zagorje, Primorje-Gorski Kotar and Karlovac. Considering that Kumrovec's Power Stage played the biggest role in last year's race, where Ogier beat Evans by only 0.6 seconds, it will be interesting to see how the new organization of stages for Croatia Rally 2022 will affect the ranking of competitors and the final result.

WRC Croatia Rally 2022 - hybrid cars

Hybrid vehicles are competing in the WRC Croatia Rally 2022 for the first time

The fact that the Croatian Rally 2022 is scheduled by the WRC brings certain novelties. The biggest one applies to the vehicles themselves, as the FIA has changed the rules on car characteristics for this year's competition. In addition to allowing hybrid rally models, the minimum weight of the car has been increased by 10 kg, which will certainly affect the dynamics of the race. Three new hybrids in the Rally 1 category were premiered at the Monegasque race - Toyota GR Yaris from the Gazoo Racing workshop, Ford Puma from M-Sport Ford and i20 N Hyundai Motorsport. Ford’s team stood out in particular with Sebastien Loeb’s win at Monte Carlo, while Kalle Rovanperä won the Swedish WRC by driving the GR Yaris. These cars are equipped with a hybrid kit from Compact Dynamics, which provides them with an additional 100 kw of power, and which drivers can use as a boost on certain parts of the track.

In addition to prestigious competitors, WRC Croatia has attracted the business world

At this year's WRC, the focus will certainly be on the competitors, since the world rally cream will come to Croatia, but we should also mention the really impressive organization of the event itself. HAKS and the WRC Croatia Organizing Committee aim to surpass last year's event in all aspects. Thus, the high patronage of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the City of Zagreb, INA and many other sponsors has been ensured for this year, while the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences will provide logistical support. The biggest Fan Zone will be at the service park at the Zagreb Fair, where visitors will have the opportunity to see the service area live, buy souvenirs and listen to concerts by various artists from April 19. Many business entities will participate in the offer of content, because this is an event that contributes to the branding of Croatia and its positioning as a tourist oasis. The official schedule of the Croatian WRC 2022 is available on the HAKS website, through which you can find information about the latest news related to the competition.

The Croatian WRC is based on a fifty-year tradition of rally racing

Although the WRC Croatia Rally 2022 is a new event on the Croatian scene, the race itself is a successor to the former Croatia Rally and INA Delta Rally, which held Croatian rallies at a high level. The first domestic race was held in 1974 under the name INA Delta TLX Rally. In just three years, the race has evolved from a local or regional event into a national championship at the level of the former Yugoslavia. In the nineties, the INA Delta Rally experienced an incredible rise and was included in the European Rally Championship, during which our automotive ace Niko Pulić achieved two consecutive victories. The separation of INA Delta from the Croatian Championship in 2010 creates the Croatia Rally, the predecessor of today's WRC. This year, Viliam Prodan, who represented us last season, will drive in the Croatian team again.

Accommodation packages are provided for visitors during the WRC

Thanks to numerous sponsorships, WRC Croatia Rally 2022 will be rich in exciting accompanying content. INA's prize pool, for example, covers everything from a personal tour of the service park to gift cards. Given the exciting program, the complete event gives a great boost to domestic event tourism. For this purpose, various tourist packages were organized, which are in line with the schedule of the WRC Croatia 2022. Through the cooperation of Croatia Rally and BTravel, packages were designed that include accommodation and tickets for all Fan Zones of the location. The offer extends to two accommodation capacities in Karlovac County, three in Zagorje and as many as 21 hotels in Zagreb, which makes personal arrival much easier. See you at the WRC!
